A very cold spring resulted in delayed initial growth and the latest bloom in Oregon’s history, occurring in early July. Veraison normally occurring in August occurred in September Cloudy and wet weather in early October increased the disease pressure, but then the weather cleared and was sunny into early November. Low sugar, solid acidity and decent flavor development produced surprisingly generous wines from the better sites.
From our last "cool vintage" this wine has a complex multi-dimensional nose filled with aromas of violets, baking spice, cherry and raspberry. Floral notes continue on a round, full layered palate of red cherry, cola and hints of cedar spice. Flavors drift on to a refined finish that has length.
