2014 was very unique because of the warm and dry conditions that started during the early spring growing season and kept up into the summer giving us a perfect situation for an early harvest. The resulting wines are darkly fruited and quite concentrated. Though some of the wines have big tannins, the core of fruit is so sweet that they are balanced with moderate alcohol. The wines being in bottle for over 5 years has integrated the flavors well. Smooth, no bite in the acids or tannins and a nice lingering finish.
This wine has a classic O'Donnell dusty rose color with pink hues. Sweet cherry, raspberry, and strawberry fruit on the nose. More round cherry, raspberry flavors fill the palate combined with a touch of cream and vanilla. Finishing with lingering cherry. Very nicely balanced.
